The Centralized Archive Management
System (CAMS) integrates various kinds of
satellite image data received and processed
by several domestic and international direct
receiving stations, archives them permanently,
and distributes them to users. Image users
can search, select, and obtain various kinds
of images of interest by using CAMS as a
single contact point (satellite image data
portal site). Therefore, CAMS can provide
the best solution not only for the integrated
and systematic satellite image data management
but also for the centralized data distribution
service.

The metadata is extracted and the
catalog is generated to database automatically
from the image data being registered to CAMS.
The registered image data are archived hierarchically,
automatically, and permanently. Image users can
search and browse all registered image catalogs
and obtain images of interest by requesting orders
to CAMS. CAMS can register and manage the image
data themselves as well as catalog data only in
order to provide an integrated catalog browse
interface. All software components of CAMS perform
their unique functions interactively in a distributed
server environment (multiple host computers) and
a storage area network (SAN). CAMS can register
and manage not only satellite image data but also
value-added products such as ground control points,
digital elevation model, and various kinds of
digital thematic maps.
